Surgical Short Stay RN

Overview

• Travel/contract role in Wilmington, North Carolina
• 12-bed Surgical Short Stay unit caring for adult surgical patients
• Most patients are admitted from PACU and stay less than 24 hours
• Also cares for pre-op patients and inpatient surgical admissions when needed
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6

Schedule

• Night shift: 3x12, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 12 weekend night shifts per contract
• Float as needed to inpatient surgery floors, inpatient holding areas, or potentially medical floors

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Short Stay experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Charge experience
• EPIC experience

Additional Expectations

• May be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team
• May be required to report during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster
• Consolidation to a centralized office mid-contract may occur, with preassignment to units as needed
• Must be able to work holidays
• No block schedules unless a weekend block
