PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Columbus, Ohio
  • 16-week assignment
  • Day or night 12-hour shifts; rotating schedules may include days, nights, or both depending on department needs
  • 36 hours per week

Unit Details

  • Medical oncology progressive care unit with some med-surg patients
  • High-acuity PCU setting with oncology telemetry
  • Pediatric patients are extremely rare and pediatric experience is not required
  • May be required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of acute care nursing experience
  • 1 year of PCU experience
  • High-acuity PCU patient experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • ACLS
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Ohio RN license
  • Previous travel experience preferred

  • Confidential fraud, waste, abuse, and compliance reporting form
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
  • Drug screen within 3 months of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B immunity or vaccination documentation
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting and related background review requirements

Pros

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.

Cons

Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
