Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45 - 07:00), open to 4x12 shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet designated
  • Total Beds: 562 staffed beds
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of CVICU nursing experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • PICC line management experience
  • Experience with starting IVs

Required Background and Compliance Checks

  • Background check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
  • State-specific searches including Illinois Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and Violent Offender registries within 30 days of start
  • Fingerprinting through Illinois Health Care Worker Registry (must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start)
  • Education verification (degree verification required)
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • References: Two professional references required

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent
  • Fit mask test required (3M1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity (or signed declination) for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
  • Drug testing as noted above

Additional Notes

  • Badge photo required within one week of contract signing
  • Completion of orientation safety manual and computer-based learning modules required before or on first day of orientation
  • Candidate must review and sign code of conduct and parking permit forms within 7 days of contract signing
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies
