Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Work in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) with possible floating to ICU cluster or Med Surg areas
• May be scheduled every other weekend
• Required to work 50% of holidays during contract
• No local candidates within 50 miles accepted
• Position is physically active: requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
• Exposure to contagious illnesses possible
• Facility operates 24/7, requiring rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather
• Essential functions include ability to work full contract term, full shifts, take call, work assigned weekends, and at least half of holidays

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
• Background Check: 7-year history within 60 days of start, including alias search, counties lived/worked/school, national and federal criminal, sex offender, social security trace, FACIS III/OFAC
• International background check if candidate traveled outside USA in last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion checks within 60 days of start
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Missouri Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days (cannot start with both pending)
• Employment application/resume with minimum 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days, education details, and valid contact info
• Photo for badge (new candidates only)
• Certification verifications and license primary source verification within 60 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205)
• Negative drug screen (7 panel) within 60 days of start
• Immunizations and health screenings (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or approved exemption
  • Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year or chest x-ray for positive TB with INH treatment documentation
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines (at least 1 after 1980)
  • Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer (declinations not accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers with strong ICU experience are welcome
• Candidate must be able to work at assigned location for full contract duration
• Must be able to work substantial portion of assigned shifts, weekends, holidays, and take call as needed
• Physical demands and exposure risks require candidates to be active and able to meet essential job functions without accommodation
• Background and health document requirements are time sensitive and must be initiated promptly after contract signing
