Registered Nurse – PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Location: Fishersville, Virginia

Job Overview

• Care for adult patients who are acutely ill with a variety of medical conditions including cardiac, neurological, renal, infectious disease, and pulmonary issues.
• Responsible for coordination of direct patient care and patient education.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 5:1.
• Unit includes PCU/Telemetry patients.
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:15 AM).
• Weekend requirement: Every other Saturday; Sundays off.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Additional Requirements & Information

• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (local radius rule).
• Uniform scrub colors: Black or Caribbean blue.
• Charting system used: Meditech.
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces.
• Required to complete and acknowledge multiple facility-specific documents and policies prior to start, including but not limited to:

  • Standards of Appearance, Dress Code Policy, Confidentiality Agreement, Social Media Policy, Compliance Acknowledgement, Masking Requirements, and others.
• Required to complete facility-specific forms such as demographic info, medical and work history, workplace wellness consent, patient care disclosure, and policy procedure acknowledgements before starting.
• Two professional references and current application/resume required.
• Skills checklist for specialty must be updated annually.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required.
• Locals are not accepted for this assignment.
• Facility is an acute care hospital with 255 staffed beds.
