Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm) with possible variability to meet hospital needs
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
- Must work at least every other holiday
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with pediatric patients
Required Assessments
- ECG rhythm recognition test during orientation (must pass)
- SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation (90% passing score required)
Required Background Checks & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
- Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive
- Annual TB questionnaire if history of positive TB
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required annually (declinations not accepted)
Documentation & History Requirements
- 2 professional references from employment within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty
- Annual skills checklist
- Photo for badge (if applicable)
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Modules include onboarding and safety training
- Medication and ECG competency exams at orientation with remediation and retake opportunities if needed
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for rotating shifts and holiday work
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed
- Candidates with gaps in employment may need to retake modules or provide updated documentation
- All certifications must be current or renewed prior to start if expiring within 30 days
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable with rotating shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
