Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Chemo)

Location: Bellevue, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Specialty Details

  • Medical Telemetry Oncology Unit
  • Telemetry certified RN with experience administering Chemotherapies
  • Experience with Trauma Level 1 and Level 2
  • Experience with Cardiac GTTs (limited titration) and Nurse Telemetry Driven Protocols
  • Cardiac Interventional procedures including TAVR, Mitral Clips, Watchman, Lead Extraction, TR Bands, complex PCI Angiogram, Dysrhythmias, Vascular procedures
  • Hemodialysis experience (administered in-room)
  • Chemotherapy infusions and pre-open heart care
  • Use of EPIC electronic health record system

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in specialty (Registered Nurse - Oncology/Telemetry)
  • Prior travel experience required (explicitly stated)

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Washington State
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified (RQI not accepted)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified (RQI not accepted)
  • Chemo Certification preferred
  • Telemetry certification required
  • Additional preferred certifications:
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
    • NIH Stroke Certification (for CCU, Float Pool, and ED RNs)
  • IV Therapy certification will be completed onsite if needed

Key Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required)
  • Competency Exam (minimum score 85%)
  • Patient Restraints Competency Exam (required for all except SPTs)
  • Core Part I, II, III (annual, minimum score 85%)
  • OSHA Mandatory (annual, minimum score 85%)
  • IV Therapy / Infusion Exam (for RNs working in Infusion/IV Therapy)

Additional Requirements

  • No block schedule requests
  • Maximum 5 days return to office (RTO) to be considered
  • Must be able to assist with patient throughput using telemetry-driven protocols

Health & Background Requirements

  • Government issued photo ID required
  • Social Security number required (no physical card needed)
  • Background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including SSN trace, statewide, federal, nationwide sex offender, and international searches if applicable
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date
  • Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap highly preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QGold, T-SPOT, or 2 PPDs within 1 year)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titers or vaccines with boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, proof of series, or declination)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required year-round

Documentation & Compliance

  • References: Minimum two satisfactory references from previous employers within the last year, including clinical competency and reliability evaluations
  • Employment application copy required
  • Washington State-specific background checks (WSP/WATCH and WA Courts Search) required
  • Facility-specific documents to review and sign including:
    • Code of Conduct
    • Applicant Disclosure Statement
    • Confidentiality Policy
    • Appearance and Dress Code
    • Internet Usage Agreement
    • CMS Fraud, Waste, Abuse (FWA) Training (annual)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
  • Minimum 3 years of oncology nursing experience, including oncology experience within the last year
  • Telemetry nursing experience
  • Trauma nursing experience
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Notes

  • Candidates will be assigned modules to complete after orientation; must be completed promptly or risk removal from schedule
  • No block schedule requests allowed

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry-certified oncology RNs with chemotherapy administration skills and prior travel contract experience looking for a 13-week travel assignment in Bellevue, WA.
