Required Certifications

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification

Scheduling & Work Environment

  • 36 hours per week, 3 shifts of 12 hours each
  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • Floating within scope expected
  • No block scheduling available

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Fingerprinting required for certain assignments (especially if floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois)
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
  • State-specific background checks and license verifications required
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Two negative TB tests or acceptable alternatives
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Annual HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and fingernail policies must be reviewed and signed
  • Completion of required orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) prior to start

Additional Requirements

  • Must provide professional references (two required, supervisors preferred)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Competency exams required annually, including oncology competency if applicable
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Various facility-specific documents and policies must be acknowledged and signed prior to start

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not accepted for this position (first-timers not accepted)
  • Floating may be required within the facility’s scope of practice
  • Pending licenses are accepted, but permanent license must be obtained for extensions if applicable
