Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Must be willing and able to float to other facilities as needed
- Specialty: Pediatric Operating Room nursing with scrubbing and circulating experience in Ophthalmology cases
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Operating Room nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience scrubbing and circulating Ophthalmology surgical cases
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- One completed travel assignment
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR certification
- Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery
- Proficiency in laparoscopic surgery and surgical scrubbing procedures
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS certification required for many clinical areas (not specifically required for this role unless assigned to those areas)
- Pass/Fail Telemetry exam required for nurses in specific units (not specified here)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with a passing score of 80% or higher, completed through approved vendors within one year prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam with a passing score of 80% or higher, completed within 12 months prior to start
- Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams with passing scores of 80% or higher, completed and updated annually
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved mask types required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations not accepted except medical exemptions)
- Two negative TB tests required: one within 1 year and one within 3 months of start, or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titers, series, or declination)
- Standard 9-panel drug test (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-April)
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required
Background & Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide databases, completed within 30 days of start and renewed annually
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript required
- Primary source license verification within 30 days of start
- Two supervisory references required from most recent or second most recent employer
- Current and updated resume covering last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
- Work history verification for 7 years required (not required for non-clinical roles)
Additional Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license (driver’s license, state ID, or US passport)
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or on Day 1 of orientation
- Completion of COVID-19 preparedness and other facility-required questionnaires prior to start
- Completion of cybersecurity awareness training and quiz annually
- Emergency contact information must be provided
