Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse

Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in the GI/endoscopy specialty.
  • Assist or circulate during advanced GI procedures including ERCP, PEG placement, EUS, Spyglass, FNA/FNB, Capsule endoscopy, Bronchoscopies, and EBUS.
  • Advanced procedure experience is required.
  • Experience with moderate sedation and pain management is preferred.
  • Must be able to work 5 days of 8-hour shifts plus call coverage.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 1 year of endoscopy experience, with recent endoscopy experience within the last year.
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check: 7-year check required within 1 year of start, updated annually. Includes SSN, counties, national, OFAC, sex offender, and motor vehicle checks (motor vehicle check required only for home health).
  • E-Verify, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required.
  • State-specific checks for Texas including Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start.
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed. Facility will conduct additional drug screen on arrival.
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Immunizations and titers required (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
    • TDAP (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if non-immune)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if non-immune)
  • Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required within 12 months of start, updated annually. Onsite fit testing option available.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required for 2025-2026 season (Oct 1, 2025 – Mar 31, 2026); religious or medical exemptions accepted.

Competency and Testing

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
  • Color blindness testing (online Ishihara test accepted).
  • Pass/fail testing for Telemetry RNs (EKG/Medication knowledge) with up to 2 attempts; required for this role if applicable.
  • Annual skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.

Orientation and Facility Requirements

  • Orientation scheduled to start May 18th (backup orientation on June 15th may be considered).
  • Orientation includes mandatory modules (~3-4 hours).
  • Parking available at no cost during and after orientation.
  • Multiple facility-specific acknowledgments and forms must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including vaccination information, TB and occupational exposure, patient-centered pledge, confidentiality, corporate compliance, employee misconduct registry, and others.

  • Two professional references required within 3 years of start date.
  • Copy of resume or employment application required.

Additional Notes

  • Must be able to work call shifts in addition to regular day shifts.
  • Prior travel experience is strongly preferred but not explicitly mandated.
