Job Description

• Unit: Acute care interventional telemetry medical surgical unit
• Patient Population: Includes patients with epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, stroke, multiple sclerosis, NPH, migraine, encephalopathy, brain mass, hemicraniectomy, and other neurological/neurosurgical diagnoses.
• Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Unit Info:

  • 32 private beds
  • Acuity ranges from moderate to high (frequent neuro checks)
  • Must assist LPNs with assessments and medication administration
  • No ventilated patients
  • Medications include heparin, argatroban, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, and ketamine drips
  • Must complete bedside report at the start of shift
  • May be required to assume the role of Charge RN
  • EPIC EMR system used

Qualifications

• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., TNCC, EFM, etc.)
• Experience:

  • Must be able to read & interpret telemetry independently
  • Neuro assessment experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience considered
• Time Off: Will consider up to two weeks of RTO (Request Time Off)

Additional Requirements

• Health Documents:

  • Physical Exam

  • Drug Testing
  • Vaccination records (e.g., Tdap, Flu, etc.)
• Background Check: 7-year background check required
• References: Performance-based reference from a Manager/Supervisor required

  • State License Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
