Job Description

• Float Pool RN position requiring willingness to float to 8 different units within the hospital.
• Work schedule includes Days, Evenings, and Nights with rotation every other week (EOW), 36 hours per week.
• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, cardiac drips, and reading telemetry strips.
• Care for ED border patients, medication nurse duties in the acute mental health unit, and care for non-vented ICU patients who are transfer ready.
• Units include Med/Surg Tele areas and others across the hospital.
• Patient-to-clinician ratio:

  • Days & Evenings: up to 5:1
  • Nights: up to 6:1
• Patient census ranges from 8 to 41 beds per unit.
• Charting system used: EPIC.

Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience (higher value taken as requirement).
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring, including measuring intervals and interpreting strips every 4 hours.
• Experience with TR Band.
• Ability to perform cardiac drips and read telemetry strips.
• Must be willing and able to float between multiple units.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current Massachusetts RN License required (MA Conditional Licenses not accepted).
• AHA BLS certification required (only AHA accepted, no Red Cross for this facility).
• ACLS certification preferred but optional.

Additional Requirements

• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually.
• Passing scores on:

  • Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
  • Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• Immunization and health requirements:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or proof of immunity.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions.
  • TB screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test), updated if >6 month break.
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date.
• Background checks and verifications:

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date.
  • Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start date.
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start date and annually.
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date and annually.
• Documentation of education verification and social security number trace required.
• Two recent professional references required (minimum one supervisor or above).
• Completion of skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required.
