Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts using the nursing process and current nursing practices.
Perform patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and modify plans based on ongoing evaluation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting hazards.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
Support peer professional development through constructive feedback and knowledge sharing.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

Apply nursing procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department care.
Work collaboratively with providers, patients, and families to develop and adjust care plans.
Adhere to safety standards and promote a healing work environment.

Shift Details

Night shift: 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM
36 hours per week (12-hour shifts)
2 call shifts per 6-week schedule (13-hour call shifts; must be onsite within 1 hour)
2-week night rotation required for all travelers
No block scheduling

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
ACLS certification
PALS certification
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Preferred Qualifications

Trauma Level 2 or higher experience preferred.
TNCC certification highly preferred.

This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
