Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame, utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing patient assessments and developing individualized care plans in collaboration with providers, patients, and families.
  • Implementing and modifying nursing interventions and care plans based on continuous evaluation.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Ensuring patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting hazards.
  • Communicating effectively with staff, patients, families, and visitors to promote a healing environment.
  • Providing constructive feedback to peers to support professional development.
  • Identifying personal learning needs and pursuing appropriate solutions.
  • Fulfilling all departmental competency requirements.

Department-Specific Functions

  • Applying procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department nursing.
  • Collaborating closely with healthcare providers and families in patient care planning.
  • Promoting safety through adherence to standards and proactive hazard management.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

  • This position requires working 12-hour day shifts.
  • Contract duration is approximately 13 weeks.
