Surgery Tech Position – Colorado, Lafayette

Job Summary

• Perform various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure safe and successful operative procedures.
• Function under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and report to Surgical Services management.
• Support surgical operations initiatives and participate in the surgical operations safety plan.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accountability for operating room and surgical items sterilization.
• Maintain the sterile field and ensure a safe environment.
• Recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes.
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgeon during procedures within the scope of practice.
• Identify emergency situations and respond appropriately.
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
• May assist with sterile processing.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist experience within the last year.
• Surgical Technologist experience.

Education

• Completion of a non-accredited surgical technology program within the last six months, which may affect eligibility for the Tech in Surgery exam,
  OR
• Two years of surgical technician experience in hospital or military surgical services obtained within the last three years.

Certifications & Licensure

• Valid CVOR Technologist license in Colorado.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Certified Surgical Technologist or NBSTSA certification.

Shift & Hours

• Day shift, 10 hours per day.
• 40 hours per week.
• On-call details to be discussed during the interview.

Contract Length

• Approximately 14 weeks.
