RN-Intensive Care Unit - Pediatrics

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Role Overview

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process.

Key Duties:

• Delivers care for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs
• Performs bedside point-of-care testing
• Consults with resources for complex care, unusual teaching needs, and high-risk discharge planning
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and family on the plan of care
• Assesses developmental level and readiness to learn, and provides patient education

Assignment Notes:

• Shared staffing model between the Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU) and the Pediatric ICU (PICU). The units are directly adjacent, and flexibility to work in both areas is required. Candidates must be comfortable with this expectation before submission.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) experience of at least one (1) year, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
