Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Asheville, NC
- Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, alternating weekends
- Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information
- Unit Size: 16 beds
- Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1 or 1:1, occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity
- Staffing: RNs only (no unit clerks or patient care techs)
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Floating Policy: Travelers float to all areas within the hospital
- Scrub Colors: All navy or navy and white (no green scrubs except when soiled)
- Dress Code: No pullovers or hoodies; must adhere to uniform colors
Required Experience & Skills
- ICU experience required
- Titration of vesicant medications
- Familiarity with pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Experience with ventilators and tracheostomies
- Telemetry interpretation
- Understanding of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup and interpretation
- Transvenous pacing, cardioversion, and TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram)
- Familiarity with chest tube insertions and maintenance
Advanced/Preferred Skills
- Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
- Impella device management
- Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Cardioversion
- Central line insertion
- EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
- Bronchoscopy
- Chest tube insertions
- Pericardiocentesis
- Thoracentesis
Certifications
- No certifications required
- CCRN certification recommended
- Experience or certification with IABP, Impella, and CRRT appreciated
