Overview

• Location: Kearney, Nebraska
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Department: ICU RN
• Unit size: 33 beds, average daily census 16

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nebraska
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License

Clinical Setting

• Common patient types include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, adults with sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• RN responsibilities include troubleshooting nasal cannula to vent
• Nurse aide support is available based on census

Schedule

• Shifts are 0630-1830 and 1830-0630
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: minimum of 2 holidays within the contract time frame
• Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added in
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• If called in from call, arrival is required within 30 minutes

Floating

• May float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg
• Float assignments are typically at the same ratio as the home unit, usually 1:4 or 1:5

Orientation

• 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Pass/fail exam is given during orientation, and a 90% is required to pass
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
• Radius rule: 50 miles
• Blocked scheduling is only considered for weekends only
• Duos requesting the same schedule or sharing a car are not accepted
