Registered Nurse (RN) – Obstetrics

Location: Dixon, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, 7p-7a)
Hours per Week: 36

Unit and Patient Care Details

• Unit Type: Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Level 2 Nursery
• Patient Types: Antepartum, Labor & Delivery (including high-risk), Level 2 nursery patients, clean gynecological surgical patients
• Unit Size: 7 beds plus 1 overflow room
• Facility Size: Approximately 80 beds total
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines based on patient acuity
• Float Policy: Rotation with permanent staff; may assist other departments (Med Surg, Emergency) during surges

Orientation

• Duration: 2-3 days of orientation, on-unit learning
• Shift Length During Orientation: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a)
• Orientation Includes: Classroom and on-unit training, competency testing (EFM competency, NRP, BLS)
• Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours

Required Certifications and Skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) competency
• Experience with Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Level 2 Nursery care
• Ability to care for clean gynecological surgical patients
• Must be able to work Antepartum and Postpartum areas; no scrub or circulate duties on C-sections

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience, preferably 2 or more years in Labor & Delivery or related specialty

Licensing

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
