Respiratory Therapist - Nights

Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Summary

Provide comprehensive respiratory care including arterial blood gas analysis, patient assessments, mechanical ventilator management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, bronchial hygiene, chest physical therapy, oxygen administration, hyperinflation and aerosol therapies, and pulmonary function screening. Perform emergency procedures and maintain documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in teamwork and maintain current knowledge of respiratory therapy trends.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and document all respiratory therapy treatments and assessments per Therapist Driven Protocols (TDP).
  • Manage continuous mechanical ventilation, including initiation, monitoring, spontaneous breathing trials, and ventilator parameter adjustments.
  • Conduct arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis with proper technique and documentation.
  • Administer oxygen therapy and monitor patient response using pulse oximetry; adjust therapy as needed.
  • Provide patient and family education related to respiratory care.
  • Respond to Trauma Team, PCI Team activations, Code Blue, and Rapid Response Team calls; perform airway management including endotracheal intubation.
  • Perform critical care procedures such as cuff pressure checks and document results regularly.
  • Maintain and clean respiratory equipment; manage workload and supplies during shifts, including charge duties when assigned.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, staff, and other healthcare team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Hampshire
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Information

  • Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
  • Employer reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
