Job Opportunity: Ortho RN Nights

Location: Evansville, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM


Unit & Patient Population

  • 24-bed orthopedic unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio up to 1:6
  • Patient population includes postoperative adult patients recovering from Orthopedic, Total Joint Replacement, Podiatry, and Spine surgeries
  • Length of stay varies based on surgery and discharge needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
  • Minimum of 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in orthopedic surgery nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Documentation of immunizations or immunity for:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
    • Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); declinations accepted with mask requirement
  • Tuberculosis screening:
    • 2-step PPD or Negative IGRA within 90 days prior to start
    • If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start; can be completed onsite)
  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

  • Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 30 days prior to start
  • Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days prior to start
  • Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding (done onsite)
  • Forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations)
  • Completion of skills checklist for specialty within one year of start, updated annually
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation on agency letterhead with accurate start/end dates
