Registered Nurse – PCU/Oncology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48

Unit & Patient Population

• 24-bed unit serving adult progressive surgical, oncology, palliative care, and progressive acute care patients receiving chemotherapy.
• Drip infusions required on all floors.
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.

Job Responsibilities & Expectations

• Frequent floating required to meet staffing needs, including to other units and potentially to a different campus.
• Units for floating may include neuro, trauma, observation, stroke, and others within the hospital system.
• Travelers are the first to float.
• Must be prepared to work 4 weekend shifts out of 8 in a 4-week period (weekend days: Sat/Sun; weekend nights: Fri night/Sat night).
• Holiday work required for 2/3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).
• 100% nicotine-free facility.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start; if not, booking will be six weeks out).
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting.
• EPIC electronic charting experience required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA standards).
• First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background checks, education verification, and primary source license verification required prior to start.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+) within 1 year, updated annually.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low/equivocal titers)
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low/equivocal titers)
• Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire if history of positive PPD.
• Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually.
• Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required.
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions or declinations accepted.
• Eye exam required only if working in the OR (not applicable here).

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Scrubs are mandatory: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (details provided after confirmation).
• Parking permits available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.
• Locals not accepted; candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility.
• Up to two weeks of return-to-office (RTO) permitted, subject to manager approval.
• Two professional references from work within the past 2 years required.
• Annual skills checklist required.
