Registered Nurse (ICU/Stepdown) - Travel/Contract

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Stepdown role with frequent floating to ICU and Medical-Surgical units.
• Must be comfortable working across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units.
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6.
• 21 beds in the unit.
• Non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene.
• Care includes vascular cases (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, post-cardiac cath with intervention, CIWA protocol with IVP Ativan (no presidex), peritoneal dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high flow <80%, home ventilators (Trilogy), wound care, nebulizers, and hemodialysis in the dialysis department.
• Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 2 years of Critical Care Float experience, including within the last year.
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required for positive responders.
• Required immunizations or titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B) or facility-specific declination forms.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required year-round.
• COVID vaccination or declination required.
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start for new candidates (no instant tests).
• Background checks including criminal history, SSN trace, county searches, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
• Completion of facility-specific Relias training modules (~81 modules) prior to first shift and orientation.
• Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or shadows).

Additional Notes

• Patient care involves managing stable BiPAP and home ventilators (Trilogy).
• Experience with vascular procedures and cardiac care is important.
• Floating is mandatory and frequent; candidates must confirm comfort with this.
• Orientation and ongoing training are structured and mandatory.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU/Stepdown RNs comfortable with a dynamic environment requiring flexibility across multiple units and strong critical care skills.
