Registered Nurse - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Support patients across all major surgical services in a high-volume surgical/procedural unit.
Care for pre-op, Phase I and Phase II recovery patients, including pediatric and adult populations.
Unit includes 34 ORs on two floors with diverse surgical cases including Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, Pulmonary Lab, and Pediatric GI/Lithotripsy.
Candidates must be comfortable floating to pediatric PACU as needed.
May be assigned to an Emergency Team during emergency events, requiring staying onsite until the event passes or providing relief.
Patient ratio typically 1:2.
Schedule includes 2-3 weekends per contract.
Epic electronic health record experience required.

Shift Details

Day shift: 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours per week, totaling 36 hours/week).

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
Minimum of 1 year of recent PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Current certifications prior to start:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
