Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Peters, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Unit Type: General medical and surgical
• Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, 110 staffed beds
• Charting System: Epic
• Orientation: Some weekday orientation required (no weekend classes)
• Parking: Free parking available

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Requirements

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to other units including surgical and telemetry
• Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
• Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
• Guaranteed Hours: Yes, minimum 3 shifts per 13-week contract

Facility Policies & Documents

• Must complete and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
  • Confidentiality Form
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
  • Hand Hygiene Policy
  • Fingernail Policy
  • Dress Code Policy
  • Float Attestation (acknowledging willingness to float to multiple units)
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
• Employment application and skills checklist must be submitted and current within 1 year
• Orientation modules (~16 hours) must be completed through the facility’s learning system before start (not required for returning candidates who completed modules in current calendar year)

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers accepted
• No prior travel experience required
• Must meet or exceed required competency and certification standards
• Must adhere to facility policies including dress code and hand hygiene to avoid being sent home
• Floating may include Progress West and other units as needed
