Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg Telemetry acute care; trauma experience preferred
• First-time Travelers: Not accepted
• Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
• Local Radius Rule: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 5 days allowed
• Charting System: Epic

Required Certifications & Licenses (Must be current prior to start)

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
• EKG Course / Telemetry Test

Experience & Competencies

• Med/Surg Telemetry acute care experience required
• Trauma experience preferred
• Must pass unit-specific competency exams annually, including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam
  • Core Parts I, II, and III Competency Exams
• Must score 100% on medication test and 90% on EKG exam sub-sections

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Current and valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address within last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Fingerprinting may be required depending on facility
• Education verification of highest level completed (diplomas, degrees; certificates alone not accepted)
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (required within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and no physical limitations
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid 10 years; Tdap mandatory for certain units)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, titer, or history of chickenpox
  • Flu vaccine required annually (or approved medical/religious exemption)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted with agency-specific form

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills) mandatory for all RNs
• EPIC training required if no EPIC experience within last 12 months
• Fit testing for N95 masks completed onsite within 1 year of start
• Completion of facility policy acknowledgments including:

  • Health Code of Ethical Business Conduct
  • Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy
  • Oklahoma Offender Registration Act
  • Oklahoma Responsibilities and Rights (updated every 2 years)
• Vehicle information form must be completed prior to start

References & Work History

• Two references from former direct supervisors required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
• Updated resume covering last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• 10-year work history verification including international positions

Additional Notes

• No accommodation for block scheduling
• Pending state licenses not accepted
• Floating to sister facilities required as needed

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are willing to travel outside their local area for a 12-week contract with day shifts.
