  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Scheduling & Floating

  • Floating between similar units is required.
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated based on manager discretion.

Licensure & Background Requirements

  • Must have a valid California RN license (pending licenses not accepted).
  • Background check required within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Education verification required for all candidates.
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
  • State-specific background checks and searches may apply depending on placement.
  • References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Fit mask test required (updated annually).
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
  • Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required annually.
  • Color Blind Testing may be required on a unit basis.
  • Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start.
  • Completion of Providence WorkRamp LMS modules:
    • Core modules for profession
    • Specialty-specific modules depending on unit and role
    • Annual regulatory and compliance modules
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required.

Additional Notes

  • Locals are accepted for this travel/contract position.
  • Facility offers free parking.
  • Candidates may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
  • Physical presence onsite is required for most health and safety documentation; remote work is generally not applicable.

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working weekends, floating between units, and completing required certifications and training. The facility uses Epic for charting and supports a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in an acute care setting.
