Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Cath Lab specialty for a travel contract position. The role involves working in a cardiac catheterization lab with a variety of interventional and diagnostic cardiac procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience working with Adult patients
- Cardiac Stent Placement experience
- Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult) experience
- IABP Placement/Removal experience
- Impella insertion experience
- Interventional Catheterizations experience
- Left heart catheterization experience
- Right heart catheterization experience
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI) experience
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience

- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Rotablator atherectomy
- Scrub Procedures (Cardiac Cath Lab)
- Administration and monitoring of procedural sedation
- Use of emergency medications including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics
- IV infusion pumps, starting and maintaining IVs
- Activated Clotting Time (ACT) monitoring
- Cardioversion and circulation procedures
- End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE
- Sheath removal and monitoring
- Topical hemostasis techniques (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch)

- Special Procedures such as ASD Closures, TAVR, Valvuloplasty, Watchman procedure

- Central Venous Access (Non-tunneled/PICC, Port Placement)

- Endovascular Interventions
- Scrub Procedures (Vascular)
- Stent Graft Placement
- SVC/IVC Venography
- Thoracic Aortography
- Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography
- Use of External Compression Devices (C-Clamp, Sandbags)
- Hypothermia and Malignant Hyperthermia Protocols
- 12 lead EKG/ECG acquisition
- Radiation and Laser Safety
- Vascular Closure Systems (Perclose, StarClose)
Work Schedule
- Shift: 10 hours per day, 4 days a week (0730-1800)
- Some early shifts (0630-1700) depending on structural heart cases
- One late shift per week to complete last patient
- Call: 1 night per week
- Weekend: 1 weekend every other month
- Float requirement as needed

- Unit Orientation: 24 hours

Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background checks within 90 days for all locations lived in last 7 years
- Education verification for highest degree earned (pending verification allowed if license is valid)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- Required immunizations and titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Various state-specific healthcare registry and exclusion list checks within 90 days prior to start
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation (approx. 8-10 hours for acute care)
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Hospital Policies and Acknowledgement Form
- Medication Safety training and certificate of completion
- Annual Compliance Training (approx. 40 minutes)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training if required (for ER and Behavioral Health nurses)
- Radiation badge required for Cath Lab staff
- Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire) required prior to start
- Corp ID setup and I-Learn account login within 24 hours of receiving credentials
References & Documentation
- Two professional references within 3 years required for travel and acute care positions
- Employment application and skills checklist as applicable
- Performance evaluation if worked with Aya Healthcare over 1 year
