Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) experience to provide care primarily for an adult patient population across multiple surgical specialties. The RN will work in various areas including pre-op and PACU bays, managing a high caseload.

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (PACU)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of PACU experience
• Licensure: Active California RN License required at time of application
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Skills:

  • Conscious sedation IV start
  • Experience with Pulmonary Artery Lines
  • Telemetry ventilators (Tele Vents)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Job Details

• Weekend shifts as needed
• Floating required
• No on-call required
• No scheduling requests accommodated
• Caseload: 120-140 cases per day, 100+ pre-op/PACU bays
• Patient population primarily adults
• Surgical specialties include: General, Trauma, Thoracic, Surgical Oncology, Gender Affirming, Breast Reconstruction, Bariatric, Colorectal, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, Neurosurgery, Cardiac, Vascular, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Hand, Foot/Ankle, Liver, Kidney, Organ Transplants, Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, ENT, Pain Management, Ophthalmology

Additional Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
• Fit mask test within 1 year (updated annually)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
• Required immunizations/vaccinations:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with proof of immunity or booster series
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccine or proof of immunity
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (mandatory during flu season)
• Drug screening within 1 year (specific drug panel required)
• Background check including 7-year criminal history and education verification
• Two professional references required (one supervisory)
• Completion of competency exams including medication and EKG/dysrhythmia assessments
• Facility-specific photo for badge (passport-style photo required)
• Completion of facility-required acknowledgements and policy reviews

Important Notes

• Must have active CA RN license at time of submission; pending licenses not accepted
• Floating between units required
• No scheduling requests can be accommodated
• Orientation includes pass/fail EKG assessment and medication test (medication test is not pass/fail)
• Fire safety training/course required within first 6 months of assignment
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding documentation and policies
