Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

  • Function independently managing wound care consults
  • Assess and stage wounds
  • Recommend treatment plans
  • Strong documentation skills (experience with EPIC preferred)
  • Educate staff and collaborate effectively
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in wound care

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of wound care experience, including experience within the last year
  • Registered Nurse license valid in Arizona or Compact License with State License 1 Verification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
  • NURSYS license verification
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Compliance and Documentation

  • Current and valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport)
  • Background checks within 1 year of start date, including criminal and employment verifications
  • Primary source verification of nursing license within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification (diploma or official transcripts)
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (can be completed onsite)
  • Immunizations and titers (must be current or have approved exemptions):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot within 1 year) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination)
  • Drug screening with negative results within 12 months (specific panels required)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • References and employment application covering last 7 years of employment
  • Skills checklist current within 1 year

Orientation and Onboarding

  • Bi-weekly orientation sessions
  • Required to complete facility-specific orientation materials and sign confidentiality and job expectation forms
  • May need to complete additional certifications onsite if not already held (e.g., Crisis Prevention Institute for certain units)

Additional Notes

  • Strong wound care and ostomy skills highly valued
  • Must be able to work independently and educate others
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend is mandatory
