Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Auburn, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift:

  • Day shift options: 4x10 hours (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM) or 5x8 hours (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Floating and weekend work as needed per facility requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Orientation and Testing Requirements

  • Must pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80% on a 15-question test) on the first day of orientation, covering cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry strip analysis. Remediation provided if needed.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety manuals
  • Review and sign facility policies including Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality, and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years (no instant state searches accepted)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
  • Physical exam within 12 months signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified)
  • Immunizations and screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year or as required)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccine records or declination
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, opiates, cocaine, methadone, etc.)

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references within 3 years of hire
  • Skills checklist completion required
  • Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements
  • Call-off policy: maximum 3 shifts per 13-week assignment

Notes

  • No prior travel experience explicitly required
  • Floating and weekend shifts may be assigned based on facility needs
  • Nurses are responsible for independently measuring and interpreting telemetry strips as no telemetry technicians are employed at the facility

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with strong cardiac catheterization skills and current New York RN licensure seeking a 13-week travel assignment with flexible day shift options.
