Trauma ICU Registered Nurse - Wisconsin (Madison)

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), 3 shifts per week
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Work Schedule: Every other weekend rotation and some holidays

Job Requirements

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including at least some experience within the last year
  • Med Surg experience
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Background Checks

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
  • Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening required within 90 days of start
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols

Required Exams and Competencies

  • Telemetry Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with strict deadlines and remediation process
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
  • TB Questionnaire updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers; medical or religious exemptions allowed with approval
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer; medical or religious exemptions allowed with approval
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series with positive titer or facility-specific declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
  • Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
  • Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start
  • Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing policies
  • Wisconsin BID form (state-mandated) must be completed promptly for caregiver screening

Additional Notes

  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years required (Aya standard)
  • Employment application required for all candidates
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite; no need to submit results
  • Physical exam must be collected to meet Aya standard (within 1 year), but not required by facility
