ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Metairie, Louisiana

Position Details

• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Metairie, Louisiana
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Patient ratio typically 1:2, occasionally flexes to 1:3
• Weekend shifts required: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• No call required
• Floating required: will float to all ICUs and may float to Emergency Department (ED) or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to care for ICU patients; may occasionally float to Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Units with 1:4 patient ratios
• Nurses perform lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts
• Equipment used includes: Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors, Medtronic EVD management systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE monitors, Hill Rom beds, Pyxis medication station, and Veratron bladder scanner
• Facility expects care for COVID-19 isolation patients; knowledge of N95 mask size required
• Limited Return to Office (RTO) requests allowed: maximum 5 days total; minimal RTO requests during Mardi Gras period (Feb 13 - Feb 22)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Information

• Must be able to care for isolation patients, including COVID-19 positive cases
• Floating to multiple units including ICU, ED, PACU, and occasionally MS/PCU
• Facility requires coverage through Mardi Gras period; minimal time off requests during this time
• Nurses responsible for performing lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts independently

This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses comfortable with floating across critical care units and working night shifts in a fast-paced environment.
