Travel Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

Acute and intermediate care unit for thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients
Procedures include CABG, cardiac valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart and lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, carotid endarterectomy
28-bed unit: 22 acute care beds and 6 intermediate care (TIMU) beds
TIMU patients include fresh lobectomies, thrombolytic TPA recipients, AAA, CABG/Valve and lung transplant patients, some on cardiac drips and arterial lines
Nurse-patient ratio: 4-5:1 in acute care, 3:1 in TIMU

Shift & Scheduling

Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
36 or 48 hours available
Every other weekend and every other holiday required
Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
Up to 40 hours approved for time off

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (VA license pending acceptable)
Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
Experience with Epic electronic health record system required
