Assignment Details

• 13-week contract
• Day shift
• 36 hours per week
• Main OR has 14 suites
• Average 28 cases per day, including SDS cases
• EPIC is used
• Charge nurse coverage is 7a–7p
• OR techs are present
• Weekend and weeknight call rotations are required
• Call response time is 20 minutes
• Holidays are not required
• Scrubs are provided
• No floating
• Floor-specific orientation is 3 shifts
• Common cases include all surgical cases except Open Heart, with a lot of neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general, and ENT
• Scrubbing by RN is a plus, not required
• May cover as CST as needed
• May float to outpatient surgery as needed

Required Qualifications

• BLS Certification
• BLS (AHA) Verification
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) via NBSTSA Verification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA Verification
• Current surgical tech certification through NBSTSA, NCCT, or AAHA
• One of the following certifications: CSFA through NBSTSA, CSA through NCCSA, or SA-C through ABSA
• CAAHEP accredited Surgical Assistant graduate
• 1 year of experience in the specialty
• Proficiency assisting in orthopedics
• 2-3 previous travel assignments

Preferred Qualifications

• Ortho/Neuro experience

Additional Notes

• RNs are not required to interpret strips in the OR; anesthesia interprets
• Vents are used
• RT is in-house 24/7
• Pharmacy is available 24/7 with Omnicell
• Shifts include 8, 10, and 12 hours with varied start times, primarily day/evening
• Travelers are not allowed self-scheduling
• Block scheduling may be allowed if it meets unit needs
• Weekend call can be 12-24 hours due to two teams on call
• Weeknight call can vary between 7-11, 11-7, or 7-7
• Surgeon on-call hours are 7p-7a during the week and 7p Friday to 7a Monday on weekends
