Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Unit: Acute Rehab (10 beds)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1 nurse per 5 patients
• Common patient diagnoses: Stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury, spinal surgery, amputees
• Rehab services available: Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Neuropsychology
• Respiratory equipment used: CPAP, BiPAP, tracheostomies, nasal cannula, PEG and Mickey button, NG tubes
• No telemetry or monitor techs; RNs do not read strips
• Charge nurse takes assignments
• Nurse aides intermittently available at a ratio of 1 aide per 8-10 patients
• RNs attend day shift team conferences for acute inpatient rehab

Scheduling & Work Requirements

• No self-scheduling; employees may submit scheduling requests
• Rotating weekends required (approximately 4 weekend days per month)
• Holiday work required
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating may occur to other acute floors if overstaffed
• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Dress code: Royal blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year experience in inpatient acute care nursing
• Valid nursing license as RN

Additional Submission Requirements

• Candidates may only submit to one position at a time within the system
• Driver’s license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for at least 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must have been gone for at least 2 years after completing a full year on this unit
• Travel teams must be submitted together in one application
• Maximum of 2 candidates submitted per opening; additional submissions held until a spot opens

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized inpatient rehabilitation setting with a focus on complex neurological and physical rehabilitation cases.
