Job Opportunity: RN - Med Surg Telemetry

Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

• Unit: 6A Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios:

  • PCU: 1:4
  • Telemetry: 1:6
  • Blended sets: 1:5 (experience required)
• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: As needed
• Call Requirements: As needed
• EHR System: Meditech
• Patient Population: All ages

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• HWC (Health and Wellness Certification)
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience & Skills

• Must have PCU and Telemetry experience
• Preferred: 2+ years Med Surg experience
• Float Requirements: May require floating to Med/Surg and ICU units within a 25-mile radius
• Common Diagnoses/Treatments encountered:

  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI)
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Renal Failure
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
• Dress Code: Scrubs (any color), no casual wear allowed
