Travel Nursing Opportunity - Psychiatric RN

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel, Full Time
Shift: Days (7 AM - 7 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Adult acute psychiatric unit
• Current patient census up to 16, with plans to expand to 24-30 beds
• Unit currently uses Cerner, transitioning to EPIC within 1-2 months

Job Summary

• Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a psychiatric setting
• Manage clinical situations including delegation and long-range care planning
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitor side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in psychiatric nursing or related specialty
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • RN license in New Mexico or compact license
  • BLS certification (AHA only)

Additional Notes

• ASAP start, no later than February 9th to align with unit expansion and system transition
• Looking for experienced Psychiatric/Addiction RNs with strong psych skills to support unit growth
• Travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
