Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift Details

  • Overnight hours:
    • Sunday 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
    • Monday – Thursday 10:30 PM – 6:30 AM
  • No weekend requirement
  • No on-call required
  • No floating outside scope
  • Block schedule requests can be discussed

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of MRI Tech experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience not required

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Active ARRT-R (Radiologic Technologist) license at start date
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and other certifications as applicable per unit/job description
  • State license verification required (Minnesota)

MRI Skills

  • Abdomen and Pelvis MRI: Abdomen, Abdominal MRA, MRV, Female Pelvis, MRCP, Male Pelvis
  • Chest MRI experience required
  • Head and Neck MRI: Brain, Cranial nerves, Face/soft tissue neck, Head MRA, MRV, Neck MRV, Orbits
  • Musculoskeletal MRI: Foot, Hand, Hip/bony pelvis, Knee, Lower extremity long bones, Shoulder, Sternum, TMJ (with/without contrast), Upper extremity long bones
  • Spine MRI: Cervical, Lumbar, Sacrum/coccyx, Spinal trauma, Thoracic, Thoracic MRA

Equipment Experience

  • PACS
  • Siemens MRI systems

Professional Knowledge & Skills

  • Isolation Precautions
  • Preparation and/or administration of contrast media
  • Radiation Safety
  • Starting Peripheral IVs

Special Imaging Procedures

  • Diffusion (non-brain)
  • Gradient Echo Imaging
  • Image post-processing (ADC mapping, subtraction)
  • Maximum intensity projection (MIP)
  • Multiplanar reconstruction (MPR)
  • Perfusion imaging
  • Peripheral MRA (Iliac, runoff)
  • Spin Echo Images

  • T1 and T2 Weighted Images

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year required
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (documentation required)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
    • Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
  • Drug testing not required for client clearance but may be requested
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
  • Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific online preorientation modules within 72 hours of assignment acceptance (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
  • Passport-style photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Adherence to facility uniform guidelines (EMTs wear teal)
  • Annual skills checklist required

Notes

  • Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
  • Pending licenses are not accepted; active license must be held at start date
  • Ideally, no more than 5 days off between travel contracts (RTO restrictions)
  • Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty; guaranteed hours do not include on-call hours

This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working overnight shifts in a busy acute care teaching hospital environment with a broad range of MRI skills across multiple body systems.
