Job Description

  • Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
  • Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and manage transitions of care.
  • Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through effective communication.

Requirements

  • Current California RN Licensure
  • BLS (AHA) certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Orthopedics, Vascular, or Robotic Surgery
  • CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
  • Scrubbing experience highly recommended

Shift Details

  • 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (4x10hr days)
  • Day shift: 5:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Evening shift: 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Weekend rotation required
  • On-call required

Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
  • FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
  • Sex offender search must be run within 90 days of start.
  • Education verification required (not required if highest education is high school). Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Transcript/Diploma verification as needed, including international education.
  • State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List search if FACIS III cannot be run.

Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)
  • PALS (as applicable)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Instructor or Advanced Provider Course required for NICU RNs; Essential Provider acceptable for Labor & Delivery RNs
  • CCRN (Critical Care RN) – verify by position
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – valid for 4 years
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – typically required for Labor & Delivery
  • State License – copy and primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification for RN within 30 days of start
  • Other certifications as applicable (e.g., IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI)

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Competency Exam with minimum passing score of 80% or Angoff score if higher
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam may be required for some units

Facility Specific Documents

  • Passport-style photo for badge
  • Review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreement, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start
  • TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Religious exemption forms for PAPR and vaccine accommodations as applicable

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – positive titers or vaccination series required
    • Hepatitis B – positive titer, vaccination series, or signed declination
    • Varicella – positive titer or vaccination series
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
  • Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only)
  • Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually

Employment History & References

  • Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps
  • Employment verification for up to 7 years required, including explanation of gaps over 30 days
  • 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates (within 3 years)
