Respiratory Therapist

Overview

  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois
  • Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • Experience in a Critical Care setting
  • Experience in a Pediatric ER/ED setting
  • Endotracheal tube suctioning
  • Extubation
  • Intubation assist
  • Nasal airway placement
  • Nasal airway suctioning
  • Oral airway placement
  • Oropharyngeal suctioning
  • Tracheostomy suctioning
  • Experience with Cerner

Experience Preferences

  • Adult Critical Care experience
  • Emergency Department experience
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred

Clinical Skills / Experience Needed

  • Airway management: endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal airway placement and suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy suctioning
  • Nebulizer therapy: handheld, T-piece, trach collar
  • Oxygen therapy: bag and mask, ET tube, high-flow nasal cannula, T-piece, trach collar, Venturi mask
  • Ventilator management: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation

Additional Notes

  • Cerner experience required
  • Any solid color scrubs
  • Parking permit required; no cost
  • RTO ideally no more than 5 days
