Medical Surgical RN

Overview

• Travel/contract RN position in Saint Louis, Missouri
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Patient ratio: 1:4–5 on all shifts
• Unit type: Medical/Surgical Orthopedics

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• Relias EKG
• EKG interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• IV Start capability required
• Orthopedics experience
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Floating is required within the service line
• No block scheduling
• No on-call requirement
• No local candidates; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• No more than 7 days of requested time off

Preferred

• BSN
• Level I trauma experience
• Ortho experience
• Experience with trapeze, walker, traction, lifts, and external fixation

Unit/Patient Population

• Orthopedic cases including knees, hips, total joints, hand, shoulder, foot and ankle
• Trauma, oncology, and complicated ortho cases
• Fast-paced, high-turnover environment
• Common care activities include drains, ice packs, education, phlebotomy, PCA, epidural care, and mobility precautions
