Pediatric Stepdown RN

Overview

Travel/contract pediatric stepdown registered nurse role in Chicago, Illinois
Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
13-week contract
Start date: ASAP
Patient population: ages 2 weeks to 18 years
Unit includes 39 beds and cares for medically complex pediatric patients

Schedule and Work Setting

Accepts either 3x12 or 4x12 schedules
Weekend coverage required every other weekend
Floating within scope may be required
Block scheduling may be accommodated
Locals are accepted

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Stepdown experience with 2 years of experience
Stepdown experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
BLS issued by American Heart Association
PALS issued by American Heart Association
Ventilator experience
Tracheostomy experience
G tube experience
1:4 patient ratio experience
Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown experience
Experience with Meditech

Preferred

PICU experience

Additional Requirements

Pending license accepted
First-time travelers not accepted
No on-call requirement
RTO must be approved before the start date and cannot be added after the contract begins

Compliance / Pre-Start Items

Physical exam within 1 year of start
Negative TB test or chest X-ray
Tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap within the past 10 years
Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
Drug screen within 30 days of start
Professional references required
Skills checklist required annually
Background and state registry checks required before start
