Medical Surgical RN

Overview

• Travel/contract registered nurse role in Abingdon, Virginia
• Night shift
• 12-hour shifts
• 36-hour or 48-hour weekly schedule
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• No call
• Floating required
• Contract length: 15 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Med Surg (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Schedule / Assignment Details

• General orientation begins on Sundays
• 16 hours of nonbillable orientation
• One shift may be canceled or called off every two weeks without financial penalty if census decreases
• Additional shifts above the work commitment may be flexed based on census or resource needs without penalty

Compliance / Pre-Start Requirements

• Background check
• Education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check
• HHS/OIG check
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check, if licensed or certified in Tennessee or working at a Tennessee facility
• Color blind testing
• Competency exam
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam, as applicable
• Skills checklist
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit testing completed onsite for candidates with patient contact
• Negative TB screening or chest X-ray
• MMR immunity documentation for measles, mumps, and rubella
• Hepatitis B documentation
• Varicella immunity documentation
• Drug screen within 14 days of start
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
