Job Overview

Seeking a full-time Physical Therapist in a hospital setting with a focus on acute care, inpatient rehab, and outpatient rehab. The schedule is Friday through Tuesday, with the ability to float between inpatient, acute rehab unit (ARU), and outpatient as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs to improve patient mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and address disabling conditions from disease or injury.
  • Gain patient and family cooperation through competent assessment, monitoring, and communication.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.
  • Provide clinical supervision of assistants and aides; serve as clinical instructor for assigned students.
  • Plan and implement individualized physical treatment programs to maintain, improve, or restore physical function and prevent dysfunction.
  • Complete and document patient evaluations, tests, and treatment plans per established standards.
  • Coordinate patient care effectively with other healthcare providers and support team members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to patient therapy in medical and departmental records.
  • Participate in quality improvement processes and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment, including proper cleaning and disinfecting of equipment.
  • Inspect and use equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, reporting malfunctions as required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Retain certifications and complete mandated continuing education to meet facility and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in California
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Schedule

  • Day shift, 5 days a week (Friday through Tuesday)
  • 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
  • 40 hours per week

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check including social security trace with all aliases, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
  • Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screenings.
  • Education verification required for highest level achieved.
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
  • TB screening: Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work and any work restrictions documented.
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B series or declination
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests).
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually.

Documentation and Orientation

  • Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and general regulatory orientation prior to start.
  • Complete a TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider (MD, PA, NP/APN, DO, or RN).
  • Provide a clear, passport-style photo for badge (if applicable).
  • Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
  • Employment verification for up to 7 years required, with explanations for any gaps over 30 days.

  • Must comply with all facility policies and safety standards.

This position does not require prior travel experience.
