Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Environment

  • Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Common diagnoses: CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
  • Unit census: 36 rooms, average daily census of 35
  • Electronic systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Shift Details

  • Day shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours per week, total 36 hours/week)
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Call: None

Holiday Work Expectations

  • If 1 major holiday occurs during assignment, expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays occur, expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays occur, expected to work two of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Orientation & Compliance

  • Return to Orientation (RTO) required within maximum 7 days
  • Orientation blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

This position offers a structured, supportive environment for travel nurses with at least one year of experience, working in a telemetry/PCU setting with adult to geriatric patients. The role requires strong clinical competencies, certifications, and compliance with health and background verifications.
