Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • Either 4x10 hour shifts or 5x8 hour shifts
  • 4x10s: Weekdays, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • 5x8s: Weekdays, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Occasional Saturday rotation (8 AM – 1 PM), approximately 2-3 times per 13-week contract

Job Details

  • Exams performed are portable; some patients brought to inpatient unit
  • Outpatient exams with varying degrees of acuity
  • Ultrasound equipment includes Philips, GE, and Siemens

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in specialty
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: ARDMS, RDCS, or CCI-RCS
  • Valid state license for Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer discipline

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, using specific code 3701.881
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
  • Education accreditation verification required immediately after contract signing
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)

Certifications and Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start (with remediation process if failed)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • Tdap vaccination (adult dose after age 11/12) required; exemptions not allowed for those working with infants or pregnant patients
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempted with documentation
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series required; signed declination acceptable
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask at all times
  • Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Facility Policies

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form required
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
