Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit Description
- High Risk Obstetrics (OB) Unit
- Float requirement to Mother/Baby unit
- Call requirement as needed
- Weekend shifts as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- FHM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, and other competency exams required annually with minimum 80% score
- Core competency training (Parts I, II, III) updated annually
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
- Annual TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 12 months
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
Additional Information
- Scrubs provided by the hospital
- Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
- Must be willing to float to Mother/Baby unit as needed
