Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
• Call Requirement: Call every other weekend (Friday 4:30 PM to Monday 8:00 AM)
• Call-in Response Time: 15 minutes (hard stop)
• Residence Requirement: Must live within 15 minutes of the facility
• Floating: Must be able to float to PACU/Recovery and occasionally to Interventional Radiology at a nearby hospital (about 15 minutes away)
• Patient Age Group: Pediatrics through Geriatrics
• Staffing Ratio: 1:1
• Typical Procedures per Nurse per Day: 3-10
• Number of Angiography Suites: One
• Procedure Focus: Mainly trauma cases and standard interventional radiology procedures (no neuro IR)
• Nursing Roles in Procedure Room: Usually two nurses per procedure, sharing sedation and circulation responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 3 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form
• E-Verify or attestation
• Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender registry, and others as required by state regulations
• State-specific Medi-Cal search within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, with additional requirements if positive or allergic to PPD
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 10-panel drug screen within 1 year, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (masking required if exempt)
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted
• Completion of facility-specific mandatory compliance training annually
• Completion of advanced EKG competency exam (80% passing score required; 2 attempts allowed) unless working in exempt units
• Annual trauma education (4 hours) or current trauma certification (TNCC/TCAR)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and age-specific competencies updated annually
• Review and completion of facility-specific policies, competency validations, and confidentiality agreements prior to start

• Facility provides in-house Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training if required
• Orientation includes review of RN competencies and policies
