MRI Tech - Travel/Contract Position
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Day shifts rotating between 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM (4x10 hour shifts)
- Weekly Hours: 40 hours
- Call Required: Yes (Call week runs Wednesday to Wednesday with a mix of 8- and 12-hour shifts including some weekend hours)
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, rotates weekly among staff
- Off days rotate Wednesday through Friday
Required Experience & Qualifications
- MRI Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification
Licensure
- Must have a valid state license appropriate for MRI Technologist role, verified within 30 days of start
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide and federal checks, sex offender registry, and others; must be updated annually
- Education verification of highest degree (minimum high school diploma or equivalent)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
- Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency (must score 80% or higher)
- Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) must be updated annually
- Photo for badge required
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Any
- Must comply with employee appearance policy
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit (not typically for MRI Tech)
- Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
This position is ideal for experienced MRI Technologists with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable with rotating day shifts, call responsibilities, and weekend rotations in a pediatric-focused hospital environment.
